Having had a very successful Centenary Year with President Richard Pettet’s leadership we now start on our 101^st year as a County Association.

The theme again this year is Recruitment to try and stop the decline in bowlers in Sussex.  I would urge your club to consider what it can do to attract new members by holding open days, coffee mornings or inviting local groups of non-bowlers to come and see what the game is all about.  Please remember that if you are organising events for non-bowlers that it is important to have enough help on hand to ensure visitors are well looked after and to guide them when they have a try at bowling.

I wish all the members selected to play in the Middleton Cup and Home Counties League games every success in 2010.  My team of officers and I will be there to cheer you on and, who knows, we’ll look forward to seeing you in the finals.

Good luck in all the Competitions you have entered.  I look forward to watching you all in the final stages at the various venues.

Once again we have a full fixture ahead of us for the coming season with numerous County Badge matches, County Friendly games, Executive games and Vice Presidents’ games.  I look forward to seeing you on the green and bowling with as many of you that I can.
